Shortest and oldest of all the characters.Very tiny and skinny. Self-conscious over a stomach that never flattens all of the way. Enjoys wearing jeans and sweaters even in summer. Frequently cited by the fashion police for crimes against eyesight.

His friend since birth, neighbor, and big bother best friend forever is one John Egbert. Other best friends include Sollux(ander) Captor and Kanaya Maryam.

He is Indian-American, and speaks only English. Very tempermental and insecure. Romanticizes romance. Dated one Dave Strider in middle school. Held hands under the table while he tried to eat his sandwich with one hand.

Still lives with his biological father, who divorced his mother when he was very young. His father remarried when Karkat was 8, and he got to be the angry flower child. Has a fairly good relationship with his father and step-father even if they appear to do nothing but scream and fight all of the time.
